Two Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshops, June 28–29, June 30–July 1, McNeel Europe

Two Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshops
Tutors: Junghwo Park, Long Nguyen
Host: McNeel Europe (Barcelona)
Online workshop 1 for users: June 28–June 29, 10 am–5 pm CEST
Online workshop 2 for developers: June 30–July 1st, 10 am–5 pm CEST

Since 2009, many third-party plugins have been developed to enable the interoperability between Autodesk's BIM software Revit and McNeel's Rhino/Grasshopper to various degrees of success in terms of ease of use, performance (speed), and extendibility. With the recent release of Rhino 7 and the new technology known as Rhino.Inside, Revit and Rhino/Grasshopper can now work together more seamlessly than ever before. Not only has this opened up a variety of opportunities that combine the strengths of both platforms in a flexible, efficient and responsive way, but almost the entire existing ecosystem of third-party Rhino/Grasshopper plugins can be used in a shared workflow with Revit. Additionally, the Rhino.Inside technology also allows (third-party) developers to further push the limits by creating their customised Grasshopper
components (via C#, and even Python) that can access the Revit API directly in the same runtime environment.

In this context, Long Nguyen, Computational Design Researcher and Software Developer, and Junghwo Park, BIM Specialist at Umdasch Group Ventures, will teach two Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshops at McNeel Europe.

Online workshop 1 (2 days):
The first workshop is taught by Junghwo and is dedicated to Revit users who want to learn about Rhino and Grasshopper or Rhino and Grasshopper users who want to learn about Rhino.Inside for Revit. Further, it is aimed at BIM creators, coordinators, and managers interested in parametric BIM workflow.

Participants will get a basic understanding of how to use Rhino.Inside, will learn about BIM Management use-cases using Rhino.Inside and BIM workflow using Rhino.Inside and useful Grasshopper plugins for parametric BIM Design.

Course requirements: Basic knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper and Revit.

Online workshop 2 (2 days):
The second workshop is taught by Long and is dedicated to Revit or Rhino users who want to learn about the Revit and the Rhino APIs, and BIM experts with basic programming skills. The workshop will introduce how to make a custom Grasshopper component that relies on the Rhino.Inside framework to access the Revit API. The goal is to foster a better understanding of why Rhino.Inside makes the interoperability between different software applications much easier from a developer perspective (write and test code), to create C# scripts and custom Grasshopper components that access the Revit API, and ultimately to use the existing McNeel’s open software development framework for Rhino.Inside.Revit to make writing code easier.

Course requirements: As Workshop 2 is primarily based on the C# programming language, a basic level of C# and plugin development for Grasshopper is required. If you have no prior experience in either of these two topics, it is possible to self-learn using a free 3-day online course. (when visiting this URL, please scroll down a bit until you see C# Scripting and Plugin Development for Grasshopper.) Even though this course is a 3-day online course, watching and following the first 1.5 days should be sufficient to participate in Workshop 2.

Online course fees:
Online Workshop 1 for users: EUR 250,- (+VAT); full-time students and university teachers get a 50% discount (proof of status required).

Online Workshop 2 for developers: EUR 250,- (+VAT); full-time students and university teachers get a 50% discount (proof of status required).

Special offer for both online workshops: EUR 480,- (+VAT)

Please note, your seat is confirmed after payment has cleared.

Max. number of participants for each course: 25. If there is no quorum, the course will be canceled 15 days before.

Course language: English
